Needs Assessment

 

The best return on investment is achieved when training is specifically targeted to the needs of a company. In some circumstances, the needs are easily identified without significant effort, and the training follows clearly. In other circumstances, the needs of the population are not clearly understood and work must be done to determine the knowledge and skill gaps and carefully target the training. Hill Associates can help you evaluate the need for a thorough needs assessment and, if one is needed, execute it efficiently and effectively.

Effective needs assessment is a four-step process:

  1. Know where you want to be - We begin by working with you to understand your business goals, the needs of your customers, and your competitive environment.
     
  2. Know what is needed to get there - Through consultation, surveys, and/or staff interviews, we conduct competency modeling for your training population to determine the minimum requirements for each job function.
     
  3. Know what is currently missing - To truly assess where your company's training needs are, we conduct a gap analysis, determine specific skill gaps in current job functions, and map them across the target audience.
     
  4. Craft programs to fill the gaps - With a gap analysis in hand, Hill Associates can draw from its extensive library of telecommunications courseware to rapidly customize a program that will meet your needs, supplementing it as needed with information specific to your company.
